1:1 ABA Sessions

About 1:1 Sessions

At Learning to Fly ABA, our 1:1 ABA services provide individualized, evidence-based support tailored to each learner’s unique needs. Through individualized sessions, our trained therapists work help learners develop essential skills across a range of areas, such as communication, social skills, self-care, and behavior management. By focusing on functional and socially significant goals, we empower learners to achieve meaningful progress that enhances their daily lives. Using data-driven methods, we continuously monitor growth and adjust strategies to ensure optimal outcomes, helping each individual reach their full potential in a supportive, compassionate environment.

I want to highlight one important thing: Our company does NOT require a minimum number of hours per week. We believe we need to meet each client and family where they are at and what they are able to commit to!

What to Expect

We provide both BCBA direct services and a tiered model that includes RBT direct services and BCBA supervision.

In 1:1 ABA sessions, parents can expect a structured yet engaging environment designed to meet their child’s unique needs. Each session is individualized and begins with a clear plan based on specific goals developed by a BCBA, such as improving communication, social skills, self-care, or managing challenging behaviors. Our trained therapists use evidence-based techniques, breaking down tasks into manageable steps while reinforcing positive behaviors with praise or preferred rewards.

Parents can expect a mix of structured activities and natural play, all tailored to keep the child motivated and engaged. Data is collected throughout the session to track progress and guide future interventions.

Ultimately, the sessions are designed to be supportive, focused, and fun, ensuring that learning happens in a positive and productive way.

Initial Rapport Building

Sessions will start with rapport building, where the therapist engages with the learner in their preferred activities to build a positive relationship and that the learner is comfortable.

Goal-Oriented Tasks

Throughout the session, the therapist will work on targeted goals and objectives developed by a BCBA through assessments and family input. This may include things such as learning to request items, practicing self-regulation or learning to complete self-care tasks. The therapist will utilize ABA techniques such as prompting, shaping and reinforcement to increase independence.

Data Collection

During each session, the therapist will consistently collect data on the learner’s independence on each program, tracking how they respond to each task and intervention. This data is continuously reviewed by the BCBA to inform any adjustments needed or future programming to ensure ongoing progress.

Natural Environment Teaching (NET)

Sessions will incorporate Natural Environment Teaching where learning takes place in real-life situations in the natural environment. This will occur during play, natural daily routines, and more to ensure generalization across different environments.

Positive Reinforcement

Motivation is key to progress! The therapist will utilize the learner’s motivation along with techniques such as verbal praise or tokens to encourage desired behaviors. This helps the learner remain engaged while ensuring learning is enjoyable and rewarding.

Flexible Structures

Although sessions will have a structured plan in place, they will remain flexible to adapt to each learners needs and/or mood on any given day. This allows the therapist to adjust the plan or pace as needed, to ensure the learner remains engaged throughout.
